Moto X is the latest high-end product that Motorola has recently released. While Motorola has decided to retain their predecessor’s name, it’s a whole different phone.
While it is apparent that Motorola is providing a new product, the name has remained the same. Almost a year ago the first Moto X hit the markets, and it showed Motorola is able to get in the ring with the big guns going toe-to-toe. While the names do not differ, there have been changes to the Moto X that are substantial in showing it is much better than its predecessor.
Display
The high-end device has a 720p resolution display at 4.7 inches. Not much for competition, while others such as Sony and Samsung have their big phones having a slightly larger display and 1080 p resolution. Moto has made itself a viable option with over 300ppi, and the difference that made it stand out more is unique back cover and material that were not available in the previous version. Moto X has brought a level of customization with the back cover having an even wood finish.
Moto X continues the high levels of customization, but more significantly the display specifications in the phone sees the different changes increase to 5.2 inches, competing in the same market as Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z3. The Moto X has full HD improved resolution, which also brings the increased 450 ppi to improve the screen.
Memory
The Moto X doesn’t have the option for 64GB, but instead provides a less disappointing internal memory, that was a crucial to their market position, as they offer no expanded slot car memory support. They have failed in not only offering the 64GB option, but also not having a microSD card support for their device. They could potentially reintroduce the option in the future; however, the OS will take up 5GB likely, and it will not have a good memory capacity for multimedia with only 30GB of storage.
Speed
The responsiveness of the phone makes up for the disappointment of the inadequate memory capacity. Moto X2 offers a stocked Android experience much like their predecessor. However, they have improved the specifications of their processor. Motorola offers the newly developed update for the Android L. The Moto X is equipped with the Snapdragon 801 Range quad-core 2.5 GHz process and has 2GB of RAM, that allows for a brilliant experience at multitasking.
You are still able to get the Moto X (1) for a cheap price at $350, but the latest Moto X version will cost you $500, however you are sure to get more bang for your buck with this version.
