Close Comparison of Moto G 2013 vs Moto G 2014

Motorola has been competing with the most reputable smartphone manufacturers in the world with its series of Android phones, one being the Moto G 2013. In reports, another device has just been launched with the same name but with a few enhanced features to watch out for. Let’s take a look at the comparisons between these two phones: design and display, camera, OS and memory.

Design and Display

The newer version Moto G 2014 is quite the same with the first one launched last year but this has a bit thinner body and a sleeker look. The weight arena is saying that the new Moto G is heavier at 149g while the first at 143g.

As far as the design of these two phones is concerned, the Moto G 2013 is very attractive with a 4.7-inch HD screen of 720p and pixel density of 329ppi. The resolution for both the old and the new versions are the same it’s just that the 2014 version comes with a larger display of 5 inches, and pixel density of 294ppi.

Camera

If you’re on the fence between these two smartphones, you might want to go for the newer phone because it has an upgraded primary camera from the 2013 version’s 5MP to the new one with 8MP which offers high quality, sharp photos.

Operating System

The Moto G 2013 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which is what it used to have originally when it was released. Of course, this can be upgraded to the 4.4.4 KitKat OS. The Moto G 2014 on the other hand, runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat which is its preloaded operating system. What makes this different than the 2013 version is that the new Moto G offers new features like the Motorola Assist and the Motorola Alert.

Memory

Another difference between the two phones is that the first Moto G didn’t have any external memory port while the newer version of the device already has a memory storage which can be extended to 32GB max using a Micro SD card.

So what’s your verdict after getting to know more about the Moto G 2013 and Moto G 2014? Of course, it’s pretty obvious that the newer version is better than its ancestor because in the first place, it’s designed to be the same with it-just that there are improvements made on the new Moto G to make it a better performing handset.
