Over the last quarter of 2013, British retailers recorded a massive surge in interest from overseas clients. British Retail Consortium and Google pointed out that from October to December 2013, the number of web users searching for UK retail brands on smartphones increased by 64 percent compared to the same period in 2012. The number also rose for tablet searches by 41 percent.
Google retail director Peter Fitzgerald said that British companies who invested in mobile presence “reaped the rewards“. These are companies who made changes “allowing their customers to easily find, buy and discover no matter where they are”.
