The Korean giant uncovered its two new flagships Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung Galaxy Note Edge in September which surprised not only its competitors but the world even. Why would the company introduce two handsets on the same month? Are there major differences between them? For one, the Note Edge is the first handset of the company that features a bent screen. Exterior of the Two Smartphones
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is 8.5mm thick and it weighs 176 grams while the Note Edge is 8.3mm thick and it weighs 174g. Color options for the first phone mentioned includes black, white, pink and gold while the second handset only has two colors to choose from—black and white. On the display category, the Note 4 has bigger screen of 5.7 inches while the Note Edge has 5.6 inches display.
Both of the named devices have Super AMOLED displays but it’s the Note Edge which has additional display on its right side thus offering a better resolution of 1600×2560 pixels and pixel density of 524 ppi. The Note 4 on the other hand, only has a screen resolution of 1440×2560 pixels and pixel density of 515ppi. It’s only the Note Edge by the way, that still shows notifications even if the screen is locked.
Processor and Internal Memory
Powered by a Quad core Krait 450 CPU which is Snapdragon 805, the difference between the two is in the clock speed of their processors which is 2.7GHz for the Note 4 and 2.5GHz for the Note Edge. Of course, both handsets are available in Octa Core Exynos 5433 version of processing units.
The two devices have 3GB of RAM and while the Note 4 is packed with 32GB of internal memory, the Note Edge have 16GB and 32GB variants. Their storage capacities can be expanded via micro SD card to up to 64GB.
Camera and Battery
There isn’t any difference on the cameras of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung Galaxy Note Edge as they both have 15MP rear shooters presenting Optical Image Stabilization. The 3.7MP secondary cameras are able to take snaps at wider angles of high quality pictures even in low light conditions.
While both smartphones are packed with fast charging technology that fills the battery within an hour only, it’s the Galaxy Note 4 which has the bigger battery unit of 3220 mAh as opposed to the 3000mAh of its sibling.
