Last year Motorola came out with a fully customizable phone – the Moto X, and though it was a piece of art. In terms of design, it could not be compared to the specs of the other smartphones out on the market at that time. So Motorola decided to get better and come up to the standard of the other phones and now has created a new smartphone, the Motorola Moto G(2014) that was released on the 5th of September this year. With its improved specs, Motorola now hopes to be on equal par with the latest phones out there, like the Samsung Galaxy S5 recently released earlier this year.
Both Motorola Moto G (2014) and Samsung Galaxy S5 are about 5 inches in size, a little above 5 oz in weigh (between 145-149g), has a multi-torch screen and features like light sensor, proximity sensor, and scratch resistant glass. The Motorola Moto G Android 4.4.4 “KitKat” phone boasts of an 8 megapixel camera, 1024 MB RAM system memory, 16 GB built-in storage, storage expansion up to 32GB and 2070mAh battery capacity. But how does this compare to the Samsung Galaxy S5’s Android 4.4.2.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 16 megapixel camera, 2048 GB RAM, built in storage of 32 GB, storage expansion of 128GB and 2800mAh battery capacity. So far Samsung seems to be the leader in this competition but we must not forget the price and how the customers view the phone. Hands down Motorola Moto G (2014) is less expensive of the two, expecting to sell at about $200.00 while the Samsung Galaxy S5 is over $500.00. Motorola Moto G (2014) also makes itself very competitive by being more user friendly, optimizing its software to feel smoother and faster to the consumer. Although the idea of cheaper and friendlier does appeal, I believe Samsung Galaxy S5 offer much more in terms of specs and that’s the phone I would choose.
