Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi believes that Gran Turismo 7 should launch by 2015 or 2016. This would be either two or three years after the series’ last outing, Gran Turismo 6. It would also mark Gran Turismo’s debut on PlayStation 4.
Speaking to Games TM, Yamauchi said that “For GT7, myself and my staff have a clear vision: to do everything we couldn’t do in GT6…We want to make it very Gran Turismo. By that I mean it’s going to be a game that matches the very era that we live in, in 2015 or 2016.” Kazunori Yamauchi also commented that working on the PS4 compared to PS3 will “make an incredible difference.”
Previously Yamauchi has gone on record to say that Gran Turismo 7 would most likely arrive in 2015, so this new estimate extends the possible launch window into 2016. Sony will undoubtedly be anxious for Gran Turismo 7 to be a success, especially after the botched launch of PS4 exclusive racing game DriveClub.
