If you haven’t played Retro City Rampage, then my friend you are missing out on one of the most fun sandbox games released in the last few years (GTA V included). Retro City Rampage DX, the 3DS port of Brian Provinciano’s awesome retro indie sandbox gem of a game will be arriving on the North American eShop on February 6. For those living in Europe? Unfortunately, you will have to wait until it lands on the eShop on February 20. But will it be worth the wait? Absolutely.
Priced at only $10 (an absolute steal), Retro City Rampage DX allows players cause havoc in the world around them via driving over innocent pedestrians, shooting baddies with an assortment of high-powered weaponry, hurting enemies via boomerangs, and so on. It’s one of the wackiest yet violent open-world games you will ever play, and the best part? The definitive edition is on the 3DS!
Provinciano and Co. have included some fairly significant tweaks to many of the missions, vehicles, weapons, tutorials, and so on to the game. To say the game has been modified to ensure the best possible play experience on the 3DS is an understatement: these guys have went above and beyond to deliver the best possible experience on the 3DS.
Personally, I played this game at E3 2012, and it was one of the highlights of the show for me. I’m not the only one that enjoyed it, as over 250,000 copies across multiple platforms have been sold to date. And when the game was featured as a free PlayStation Plus Game last year? Retro City Rampage was downloaded over 500,000 times! It’s a joy to play, so if you live in the U.S.? Buy it tomorrow!
