Comparing The Zenbook UX301 vs Dell XPS 13

In regards to getting the best Ultrabook, the Dell XPS 13 and the ASUS Zenbook UX301 are some of the most popular in the market, and for good measure. It is tough to compare the two as they both provide top-notch specifications, as well as nice designs that make for hard competition against other laptops. So with that on your mind, let us see how they stack up against each other.

Design

The Dell XPS weighs 1.38 kg and provides a more professional looking design, but still manages to it key for any setting. The ASUS Zenbook, however, is a little heavier at 1.42 kg, and provides a glossy and flashy design that will probably hold your attention longer. But also makes for a messy body cluttered with your fingerprints.

The XPS 13 features an aluminum lid, while the Zenbook entire body is aluminum. The XPS 13 based is made from carbon fiber and magnesium alloy for the palm rest.

The lid around the XPS 13 is cased with rubber lining that helps to seal off things when you close it. The Zenbook provides their lid with little bumps, which allows for the devices’ base to slightly rise when the screen is tilted past a certain point.

Looking at the connectivity, both of the laptops provide support for feature video and USB, Bluetooth, and WiFi. While the XPS 13 lacks some of the options that are available on the Zenbook, which includes the micro-HDMI and the SD/microSD ports.

Each of the laptops provides a nice trackpad, as XPS 13 is made from glass, and Zenbook’s consists of ceramic components.

Display

The display of the Zenbook provides a resolution of 2560 x 1440, which can inevitably strain your eyes, so it is best to go to your OS’s settings and tweaked it to enlarge the icons. For the Zenbook, it is best recommended to use the 1920 x 1080 resolution. The display of the XPS 13 is much similar to Zenbook, and they both provide Coring Gorilla Glass security and a vibrant color palette.

Hardware

The Zenbook provides an Iris 5100 GPU processing unit, and you get a Core i7 processor with 2.8GHz. While the XPS comes with Intel HD 4400, and also the Core i7 with 1.8GHz.

The storage is where we can see a little difference, as both devices have an internal storage capacity of 256GB. With the Zenbook taking the advantage by offering 128GB on two separate drives.

Under the same conditions both were tested on the video loop, brightness, WiFi, and power management, and they both lasted over 3 hours. So both laptops they provide a good battery life. However, XPS clearly has the superior battery as it lasted for over 7 hours while the Zenbook peaked at less than 3 and half hours.

Both devices are available on Amazon.com. The XPS will set you back at $1300 while the Zenbook is available for only $900.
