Protecting Your Android Device with DroidWall or NoRoot Firewall

One of the best ways to protect your Android device is by installing a firewall—could be DroidWall or something else that acts as a blockade sifting communication that tries to cross whether it’s incoming or outgoing that only allows those with authorization to do so. Of course, this kind of firewall cannot be compared to that of personal computers since those are way more advanced than the protection offered for mobile phones.

Why You Should Install an Android Firewall

Protecting Your Android Device with DroidWall or NoRoot FirewallThere are a lot of possible things that might come up if your Android device doesn’t have a firewall installed on it and all of them involve danger to your device and the information you’ve saved on it. If you would use an Android firewall, you will be able to get some help in stopping an application from updating automatically on the background, in blocking of in-app ads that may pop-up even if you’re offline and in stopping of unintentional use of internet connections that would result to a bill shock for your mobile data plan.

How to Install an Android Firewall

You should have known by now already that special functions like installing of a firewall need a root access. There are two applications that are highly suggested by experts, one is the DroidWall that requires root access and the other one is NoRoot Firewall (no requirement for root access).

  • This application works on all Android devices with root access. What many users like about this firewall is that its controls are very simple and there’s just one page which shows all the applications installed on the device. Beside the icon and the name of the app are two checkboxes that you can use to either block or unblock, that is if an application should be allowed to connect to the internet or not. To turn on and off the DroidWall firewall service, all you need to do is open the menu and choose ‘firewall is/enabled’.
  • This firewall is one of those that you can use to protect your android device by using a VPN but be advised that this service may not work for all devices. Just to set proper expectation, the connection of NoRoot will need to go through the installed app which is checked first, approved and then generated from the application doubling the consumption of megabytes on your device. To enable this firewall, what you need to do is tick the checkbox beside to the application icon and to disable it, just touch the checkbox for the second time and it will show a letter ‘X’ which means that you don’t allow access on it.

With a firewall installed for your Android device, whether it’s DroidWall, NoRoot or any other type of service that you prefer using, you can already browse the internet to your heart’s content while following the rules that you’ve set. Think about the apps that you are able to live without and block them.
