LG G Flex vs Samsung Note Edge Compared

by GH Staff

The next Samsung product from their Note line has just been released, but unexpectedly, Samsung released another addition to their phablet line.

The Samsung Note Edge is a slightly smaller phablet compared to the recently released Samsung Galaxy Note 4. However make no mistake, it is still a very large device that primarily belongs in the phablet market. Samsung is more equipped than ever with their Samsung Note Edge to combat the likes of Apple’s iPhone 6, HTC One Max, LG G3, and LG G Flex. Samsung has continuously provided its users with more flexible and options on their devices. So in that regard how does the Note Edge stack up against the LG G Flex?

Display and Designs

Unlike other manufacturers, Samsung continues to develop innovative products, and the Galaxy Note Edge is no exception. The screen is able to extend and stretch on the right side to reach the back of the phone. This display is stretched to enable rapid access to the frequently used applications. The Note Edge, unlike other devices, comes with lightly rounded edges and a flat screen. The innovative stretched screen makes for a little bit of adjustment and little getting used to when handling the device. The LG G Flex also provides an innovative display and design. The LG G Flex is a flexible device with curved display. The users will have to try out the phone to subscribe to their experience, but the 3D effects will probably increase its advantage.

The Edge delivers a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 5.6 inch display, with 1600 x 2560 pixel resolutions and 524ppi pixel density. The LG Flex offers a 6 inch display with poorer quality with only 7202 x 1280 pixel resolution and 245ppi pixel density. The Galaxy weighs slightly less at 174 grams, and 151 x 82 x 8.3 dimensions, while the LG G Flex weighs 177 grams, with 160 x 82 x 8.7mm dimensions.

Operating System and Hardware

The Note Edge comes with quad-core processor from Qualcomm and the Snapdragon 805 with 2.7GHz speeds. The Edge runs on 3GB of Ram with two variants at 32GB and 64GB of internal memory capacity, and up to 128GB of expandable memory with a microSD card slot. The LG G Flex doesn’t offer any expandable memory on their one 32GB device but comes with the quad-core Snapdragon 800 processors with 2.26GHz speeds and RAM capacity of 2GB. Both devices run on the Android KitKat v4.4 with the Note Edge fitted for the S Pen Stylus use.

Camera

The Note Edge’s camera is one of its strongest features, as it is equipped with a 16MP back camera with optical image stabilization, LED Flash, autofocus, and other features. It takes perfect pictures with its 3456 x 4608 pixels and records videos at 2610p@30fps. Other features include HD image and video recording simultaneously, smile and face detection, HDR, and standard panorama. The secondary 3.7MP camera allows for quality photos as well. The LG G Flex offers a weaker camera, but still quality with 13MP rear camera, and 2.1MP secondary camera in the front. It has LED flash, but not optical image
stabilization.

Battery

LG G Flex has the upper hand with a 3500mAh battery which provides up to 720 hours on standby and 15 hours of talk time. Edge also provides a good battery capacity with a 3000mAh battery.

Price

The price will also be a hard decision for users as the Samsung Edge is priced at $800, and the LG G Flex priced at $750. It will be worth it to pay a $50 difference for a more superior device.
