Finally A Tablet You Can’t Drop Samsung Galaxy Tab Active

by GH Staff

Samsung has just added to their Samsung Galaxy Tab line. Their newest edition is more secure than NASA and provides more protection than an armored truck.

The new Samsung Galaxy Tab Active is built to outlast almost anything that it can be hit with, including dust, water, and drops. For those that are avid coffee drinkers, you can also spill your cup on the display, and the tablet will be fine. Tab Active not only has a rugged form but also has excellent performance delivery. So in order to see how good the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active is, let us dive into some specs.

Display and Design

The Tab Active is a tablet that is built to last just about anything, and a large tablet is covered in anti-shock technology that makes it enduring. The anti-shock covering makes the tablet able to survive up to a 4 foot drop or 1.2 meters. Taking a different approach that is given to most of the Samsung devices with their popular S Pen Stylus, it is bundled with their C-Pen. The C-Pen can be used with heavy gloves, and follows the instincts of survival like the tablet. The Tab Active along with its protective design, its display is 8 inches, a lot bigger than the Galaxy Note 4. The display provides 800 x 1280 pixel resolutions, and 189ppi pixel density. The tablet weighs 393 grams, which is spot on for an 8 inch device. The device is not heavy and easily operable even for its large size. For the Tab Active, its 213 x 126 x 9.7mm dimensions are still not a burden for users to use. The weight will increase when you add a protective cover of the Tab Active, which is to be expected.

Operating System and Hardware

The Tab Active lacks in power, even coming out in 2014, it runs on a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor unit. With 1.5GB of RAM, it clocks speed at only 1.2GHz. It does provide decent internal memory at 16GB, but it also adds up to 64GB of expandable memory through a microSD card slot. On the plus side, it runs on Android v4.4. the latest version with the added TouchWiz technology. Along with the Knox service, the Tab Active is able to host your data and apps securely.

Camera

Samsung has equipped the devices with a measly 3.1MP rear sensor, which can’t say much for the quality. However, the features do include a LED flash, and a 1.2MP front facing camera. Another added feature is that the barcode scanner can be used in combination with the rear camera.

Battery

Thanks to the 4450mAH battery, it provides on medium usage up to 10 hours. Also, it is removable, so you easily replace for a new battery.

Price

Announced in Berlin at the IFA 2014, the Tab Active has yet to announce the price that is targeted mostly at businessmen and entrepreneurs. There has been much discussion on Samsung aiming their tablet only to businesses, but if they rolled it out for commercial use, it would do well. This secure tablet would make it a catch for many clumsy people looking for a rugged device.
