The Guinness World Records has had millions of people attempting to break a record in order to have their legacy imprinted ever since its inception in 1955 (until someone surpasses their record, of course), and now Chris Cook, community manager at GamePointsNow and GameKeysNow, is planning to break the record for the longest video game marathon on a football game.

Running from November 5th to November 7th at the Loading Bar in Dalston, north-east London, the current record stands at 48 hours and 5 minutes, with Cook selecting FIFA 15 as his football title of choice and the charity he is sponsoring is SpecialEffect.

“I’ve been playing FIFA games since they first started way back on the Mega Drive, so couldn’t think of a better way to raise money & awareness for a truly amazing cause,” says Cook. “As someone who has seen first-hand how gaming can help enhance lives, I could not think of a better charity to lend my support to.”

For those who can’t make it to the gaming-themed cocktail bar, the event will streamed live on Twitch and those watching will be able to win prizes from Insert Coin Tees, Papa John’s Pizza and Hauppauge, or even challenge and compete with Chris online during the stream.

“Special Effect are an amazing charity and I’d really appreciate any support you can give,” he added.

Chris is using JustGiving to fund his charity before he attempts to break the record next month, and, at the time of writing this, he has currently reached £130 out of his £200 target. You can donate to Chris’ cause here.

Last week, EA Sports announced that the real-life ban former Liverpool striker Luis Suárez had received was lifted in FIFA 15’s Ultimate Team mode, meaning you can now find his 89-rated striker card in packs.
