Google is known for being at the cutting edge of technology and are developing applications and other important tools that can help individuals in a large number of ways. Google maps is one such application that has quickly gained in popularity and allows individuals the ability to navigate by using a map which is constantly updated and is incredibly accurate. Google pride themselves on their accuracy and they’re well-designed applications. However, Google maps recently became the victim of a situation that highlighted a problem in its design.
The application is used by individuals to navigate throughout many parts of the world and has a detailed map of almost every location. However, in recent times individuals began to notice a strange cat shaped creature that had appeared on the map in a part of New Zealand next to the coast. This giant map of the cat was made up of a road which didn’t actually exist. So how did this get onto the map in the first place and what did Google think of the situation?
When individuals from Google began to notice the giant cat in the Hobson Bay area of Auckland in New Zealand, they had absolutely no idea how it got there. This mystery began to unravel itself when an individual on Reddit posted that he knew who had carried out the Image of the cat. It turns out that the individual who did actually manage to upload the image of the cat onto Google maps did so before bragging about it on Facebook to his friends. He had taken a screenshot of the dirty work and was boasting about it to his Facebook network. This has highlighted issues to Google concerning their applications that they will need to examine and resolve quickly, as a situation like this can be embarrassing for the company.
