Actress Elizabeth Peña who played the role of Sofia Vergara’s mother on the ABC show Modern Family died Tuesday, October 14, of natural causes, after having a brief illness in Los Angeles. The stunning actress, who has also known for her dramatic roles in ‘Lone Star’ and her funny parts in ‘Modern Family’ Show, has died at the age of 55.
Gina Rugolo, her manager, confirmed that she died of natural causes after having a brief illness and do not provide any more details about the death of the Cuban-American actress.
Peña’s Hollywood career spanned for more than 30 years and was known to be one of the best actresses in Hollywood. Peña has appeared in different popular TV Shows and films that attributes to her stunning and outstanding career in the world of films and shows. It was also said that she was also a member of the Directors of Guild of America.
Aside from her appearance on the popular ABC show, “Modern Family”, Peña has appeared and proved her outstanding roles in such movies as ‘Down and Out in Beverly Hills’, ‘La Bamba’ and ‘Rush Hour’. She also appeared in one of the filmmaker John Sayle’s film ‘Lone Star’, where she portrayed a role as a teacher who has a 2nd romance with someone in her past, who is played by Chris Cooper. Peña also appeared in some TV Shows like Dream On, Resurrection Blvd and LA Law. This only shows her success in the world of entertainment of movies and TV Shows for the last couple of decades.
Elizabeth also featured as one of the voice talents in Disney Pixar’s ‘The Incredibles’, the ‘Justice League’ cartoon series and ‘American Dad’. It is not just her talent in acting that stands out.
Her latest appearance before she died was her role in El Rey TV Network’s Action Series, Matador. The network was deeply saddened by the death of their friend and colleague. They stated that Peña was a role model and a truly exceptional performer that will truly be missed by the entire world of films and shows. She is a true inspiration that will always be remembered. They also mentioned that they have the same difficult time as Elizabeth’s family. One thing for sure is that she will always be missed.
Elizabeth Peña died at the age of 55, survived by her husband, 2 kids, mother and sister.
