Yes, fans of The Sims Series. Rejoice in what should have probably in the game in the first place. Pools have been put into The Sims 4.
Nicole Rauschnot/Shannon Copur made on The Sims website to tell us of this glorious news.
I’m very excited to announce that we have just released a new, free update to The Sims 4. You’re invited to dive right in today! POOLS!!! OMG!!! ☺
The enthusiasm is met dear blog posters. If you’ve ever wanted to live out your wildest fantasies of dunking heads of Sims into pools/your sadistic need to drown your Sims, you can do it once again! But, there is so much more to this update than just that.
Diagonal pool building has been added into the game. This means you can make some intricate shapes to your pool designs and let the creative juices fly all over your Sim’s backyard. This was heavily requested so The Sims makers knew that they had to add it into the game. You can also place windows as the walls of the pool, like some of the exotic Dubai hotel pools/Vegas style pent house pools. This also means that you can have a rooftop pool added into the game. That means if you want your pool anywhere in the house, that can be done. Awesome call by the programmers to do that! They’ve also added in new swimwear for your Sims, programmed that your Sims don’t necessarily have to swim, but can sit poolside, which can turn into a splash fight if other Sims ever so choose.
While these are some great things to add to an update to Sims, it makes me wonder if they should have been added to the game in the first place. I wonder what the decision was to take out the pools all together. Would it have been the death by drowning that everyone so loves to do? Alas, some questions will go unanswered.
This could also be the gaming industry being allowed to update games after they’ve been released in order to entice fans to keep sticking around for the next cool update. I’m not sure about that mentality, but it seems like a lot of games are latching onto the patching and updating down the road of the game. Can’t a full release be a full release?
The Sims 4 was released in the NA region on September 2nd, in EU and AUS on September 4th, and the UK on September 5th. Since then, The Sims 4 has received mixed reviews, with a 6.75 from Gameinformer and a 7.5 from IGN.
