EAs free to play MOBA Dawngate will be shutting down in 90 days, according to the game publisher. EA have also said that any gamers who have spent money on the games beta- which was only released six months ago – will be entitled to a full refund.
General group manager Matt Bromberg took to the Dawngate website in order to break the news. Speaking on behalf of EA, he said that “this isn’t the outcome we wanted.” The game has been in development for 18 months, with the last six in open beta. The Dawngate team has seen the game grow, but the progress of growth has not matched what the team had hoped for.
Mr Bromberg also added that every games beta period is about learning and making “tough decisions”, one of which was the decision to not continue with the development of Dawngate. Bromberg took the chance to thank all of the players who have helped out and made suggestions during the beta process.
Dawngate will still be up and running for the next three months, and any gamers who spent money during the beta period will receive full refunds at some point during the next 10 days. Mr Bromberg also stated that anybody with any queries about the games cancellation etc, could head over to EAs support page.
