Going over today’s smart devices it’s always a good idea to compare it to another smart device. Today we go over the two smart devices to see which out performs who, going over the design, display, sound, camera and battery life. Getting into as much detail as we can from processors to graphics to general user experience.
Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo
Released two months ago, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo is based on the Galaxy Grand smart device and much as its predecessor it features optional Dual SIM capabilities. However, is this feature enough to make it better than the Moto and how do its specifications compare to the Motorola mid-range price smartphone?
Design
Closely resembling its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo keeps up with the trend of the Galaxy smartphone line having a simple, yet stylish design. Even though the device is 5.66 x 3.04 x 0.38 inches the device is easy to grip. However, its overall weight of 163 grams makes it a bit tiresome to the hand when extensively used.
Specifications
For a smartphone in its price range, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo doesn’t stand out with as powerful specifications. Even though it features a Quad-Core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processors, backed up by a BCM23550 chipset and as much as 1 GB of RAM that are enough to run some business and lifestyle applications, the smart device is not powerful enough to run almost any high-end mobile games, because of its lack of graphics processor.
Display & Camera
The display of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo is a huge setback to the smart device as well. Even though its panel is as much as 5.01 inches, its low pixel density of only about 186 ppi makes its resolution size only 480 x 800 pixels. Even though this resolution size is good enough for smartphones with smaller screens, on the huge display of the Galaxy Grand Neo everything seems a bit pixelated, thus the multimedia experience is not a delight.
Another huge setback is the 5 MP camera. Although its megapixel size is good enough, the lack of almost any additional features result in poor quality noisy photos that are highly dependent on the lighting conditions. Its video recording capabilities are not that great as well as the device is only able to record at 720p and 30FPS. Moreover, the secondary camera on the front is a VGA one, making video conferencing possible, but not a great experience.
Battery Life
The battery life of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo is pretty decent compared to other smartphones in its price range. The Li-Ion 2100 mAh battery only lets the device withstand as much as 38 hours of music play, about 8 hours of web browsing 7 hours of video playback, up to 11 hours of talk time and as much as 430 hours in standby mode.
Motorola Moto G
The Motorola Moto G has been praised as one of the best additions to the mid-price range of the mobile market. Released back in November, 2013 the price of the smartphone has dropped, but does the device feature a better price to specifications ratio compared to the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo, especially as it lacks optional Dual SIM capabilities?
Design
The design of the Motorola Moto G doesn’t stand out as something innovative or different on the mobile market. However, stylish enough in its simplicity the smartphone is easy to grip, despite its size of 5.11 x 2.59 x 0.46 inches and it doesn’t become that much tiresome to the hand when extensively used, due to its weight of only about 143 grams.
Specifications
Compared to the Galaxy Grand Neo, the Motorola Moto G features much powerful specifications. Although as its competitor, the device features a Quad-Core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor and 1 GB of RAM, its Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset and Adreno 305 GPU are what make the difference. Able to run the latests version of Android OS v4.4.2 (KitKat) the smart device is able to let you enjoy not only business and lifestyle apps, but some of the latest high-end games released on the mobile market as well.
Display & Camera
Even though the display of the Motorola Moto G is only 4.5 inches in size, it delivers far greater multimedia experience compared to the Galaxy Grand Neo. This is possible, because of its high pixel density of about 326 pixels, that make its resolution as much as 720 x 1280 pixels.
Moreover, its 5MP camera is backed up by great features, including HDR, thus letting the smart device capture photos with decent enough quality, far better than the quality of the photos offered by the Galaxy Grand Neo. The video quality is better as well, as despite being 720p at 30FPS, the Moto G is able to record videos with stereo sound and HDR. Its secondary camera on the front is 1.3 MP one, thus not that much better, but still more powerful than the VGA one on the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo.
Battery Life
Although the battery on the Motorola Moto G is a non-removable Li-Ion 2070 mAh one, the smart device has a pretty decent battery life, able to withstand as much as 24 hours of talk time, 9 hours of web browsing and about 7 hours of video playback.
Overall
The Motorola Moto G is quite lower than the one of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo and the device has been released a few months prior. However, the Moto G offers a far better multimedia and overall experience, because of its beautiful display and powerful specifications. The only thing that makes the Galaxy Grand Neo stand out is the Optional Dual SIM capabilities, but with better smartphones with the same capabilities and more powerful specifications available at the same price on the mobile market, one could argue if the smart device is actually worth buying compared to any other smartphone in the mid-price range.
