Microsoft has declared their decision that they are going to pull down the Nokia brand from their smartphone product line called Lumia. Microsoft bought Nokia’s phone divisions for $7.2 Billion, back in April 2014. It was already seen that Microsoft was moving away from Nokia brand. The names of some services and applications had already been changed.
During the previous month, Microsoft launched Nokia Lumia 830 and Nokia Lumia 735. They appear to be the last Lumia smartphones with Nokia branding. It is anticipated that the brand name Nokia, will be removed from all Microsoft products and services. It has also been reported that the smartphones launched in the futures will be named as Microsoft Lumia instead of Nokia Lumia.
Nothing could be said with certainty about the date of the release of the first Microsoft Lumia smartphone. But it is for sure that Microsoft Lumia smartphone will be launched in near future. According to the conversation of Microsoft’s Senior Vice President, posted on a website’s blog, he said that this is going to be something quite exciting for the products of Lumia. He further added that Microsoft had already changed the names of a number of services and products during the past couple of months. He said that by changing the names of the applications and products, they better reflect that these products are developed by Microsoft. He says that the global and local websites of Microsoft are also going through the process of transition. He further revealed that Microsoft will suggest new names to its social channels as well, and the suggested name is Microsoft Lumia.
He invited the fans of Microsoft to continue following and liking their Lumia products and applications. He says that this is something quite natural that the products which once came from Nokia are now coming from Microsoft.
Nokia is the most popular smartphone brand in the world, especially dominating in Asia. It is a fact that everyone who uses cell phones or smartphones must have used Nokia phone at least once during his or her life. Nokia has dominated the market in a number of countries despite the presence of Apple, Sony, Samsung and Motorola. It is the brand that is respected all around the world. From 2011 to 2013, Nokia managed to win the award for India’s Most Trusted Brand, for three consecutive years.
We should not assume anything way ahead of time. Nokia is not going to disappear from the industry and even Microsoft has revealed that it is going to use Nokia brand for its basic entry level mobile phones.
Nokia, the company from Finland is still competing well. According to the agreement, signed between Nokia and Microsoft, it was declared that Nokia will not introduce any other smartphone until the year 2017. We will have to wait for some years and then we will have another chance to grab a new Nokia smartphone. Until then, it is the time to enjoy Lumia with Microsoft Applications. Lumia is set to entertain us for some years and we should not let this chance to go in vain.
