A perception that is common with Samsung that makes its devices a little different compared to other devices on the market. Although, when comes to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 it is not the case.
This device is specifically designed to perform a single task: to combine the tablet and the smartphone into one, in order to provide the best of both worlds. Equally impressive is the Samsung Galaxy S5, however there are still differences that are considerably important between the two.
Screen
Both devices have an impressive display, with the Galaxy Note 4 boasting the biggest with a 5.7 inch screen, compared to the Galaxy S5’s 5.1 inches. The S5 has a Full HD display that provides 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. While the Note 4 is equipped with a higher resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixel. Each utilized a Super AMOLED technology that is brighter than the IPS standard. Each is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which securely protects against falls.
Material
Both devices come with plastic faux-leather back. However, the Note 4 provides metal edges and a metal frame. The S5 is dust and water resistant, however you still can’t take a dip with it, but it can withstand you dropping it in water. The Galaxy Note 4, however doesn’t provide any of these features.
Weight and Size
At a weight of 145 grams, the S5 measures 5.59 x 2.85 x .32 inches, which is a little small. The Note 4 however weighs 176 grams and measures 6.04 x 3.09 x .33 inches. The Galaxy Note 4 is a two-handed device, while the Galaxy S5 can fit comfortable in one hand.
Power
In terms of power, the Galaxy Note 4 is the best with a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor that clocks at 2.7 GHz, coupled with an Adreno 420 GPU. While the S5 comes with a quad-core Snapdragon 801, that clocks at 2.5GHz, and is coupled with a Krait 400 GPU. The Note 4 is fitted with a RAM capacity of 3GB while a RAM capacity of 2GB is found on the S5. The Galaxy Note 4 is able to outperform the S5 on any day.
Camera
Each device is equipped with a back 16MP camera. In which the Galaxy Note 4 comes with optical image stabilization in which helps makes the pictures less blurry, and provide smoother video recording. The Galaxy Note 4 also has a better 3.7MP front camera, compared with the 2.1MP camera found on the S5.
Life of the Battery
The S5 provides one of the better lasting battery charge for smartphones. However, the Note 4 takes it to whole other level, with a bigger resolution with comes with a bigger battery. The 3220mAh battery is much bigger than the S5’s 2800mAh battery.
SPen
A newer version of the SPen is available on the Note 4, which allows for better sensitivity and handwriting precision for better drawing.
Price
For the price, it is dependent on if you purchase the phone with a contract. For those that do, the price is considerably lower with both be available for around $199.
