LG’s G3 flagship has recently added another model to its basket. The LG G3 Dual LTE is the fourth variation in the G3 series. It gets its name courtesy of the dual SIM support feature and 4G TD-LTE connectivity which along with the Dual Active support enables users to make calls or use internet on their device on either one or both the SIM cards together. The device is rumoured to have been made available in more than 20 countries but as of now there are only a handful where it is available on retail stores. Russia was the first country where this model was launched and retailers in Hong Kong have also listed it for sale. For other countries, the mobile set will probably be made available some time in November. The LG G3 Dual LTE is priced at $640 which is $40 more than the previous model in the G3 series.
Although this model is being launched as an upgrade to its predecessor, the G3 Beat, it does not offer much over what the G3 Beat had offered, apart from the Dual SIM support. Essentially, the specifications of the G3 Dual LTE are the same as those of the other G3 models which had enjoyed such widespread popularity. This model comes with a pre-installed Android 4.4.4 operating system and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core processor which clocks in a decent processing speed of 2.5 GHz. Along with that, it has a somewhat disappointing 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 64 GB. The G3 Dual LTE also features an 8 MP camera of 3264 x 2448 pixels along with all the regular camera features like LED flash, geo-tagging, face detection, HDR etc. The phone also has a pretty impressive 2540 mAh battery.
As far as design and display are concerned, this model is in keeping with the custom designs of the other G3 models. The G3 Dual LTE comes with a 5.5 inch QHD display screen and a display resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It has been made a tad bit attractive by making it available in both metallic black and silk white body colours. Some other features include active voice cancellation with dedicated mic, photo viewer/editor, organizer, voice memo/ dial/ commands and predictive text inputs.
The South Korean company does not look like it’s going to stop with the G3 Dual LTE. It is already planning the next variant in the G3 series. In fact, it has a phablet device in the pipeline which they have named the G3 Stylus. LG has reported that it will be a mid-range device and will come with its own stylus pen! LG officials have also said that LG is planning to introduce a safer bootloader unlocking feature. This will surely be a relief to all the future buyers of LG smartphones although the timeline when this safer bootloader will be released is not yet determined.
