When you think about legendary developer Hideo Kojima, you think Metal Gear, right? It’s certainly the franchise he’s most famous for, but there’s another franchise that is arguably just as awesome as the best Metal Gear games. I’m talking about Snatcher – an adventure game heavily inspired by the film Blade Runner that was last released in 1995 on the Sega CD. For years, fans have been clamoring for a proper sequel to Snatcher – and heck, Kojima even has written plans for a sequel! While the world may never be graced with a sequel to the cyberpunk classic (although never say never), one team is developing an adventure game heavily inspired by Snatcher.
Enter Blackmore: a steampunk adventure game that actually has some of the team that originally made Snatcher – oh, and David Hayter is in the game too; you know, Solid Snake? Currently seeking $200,000 on Kickstarter, the summary of Blackmore is as follows:
“Blackmore is a Japanese adventure game that takes the best of the classic adventure genre, including awesome Japanese art, clever puzzles and great storytelling and combines them into an all-new game in a rich, immersive isometric environment that will keep players on the edge of their seats.”
Jeremy Blaustein is at the helm of the project – an industry vet that has done localization work for Silent Hill, Suikoden II, and of course, Metal Gear Solid and Snatcher. Look at the Kickstarter if you’re interested in awesome adventure games, and if you want to see it come to life? Pitch them a few bucks!
