With Halo: The Master Chief Collection out now and Halo 5: Guardians coming next fall, Xbox gamers have a lot of Halo to look forward to. But, could there be even more on the way?
Well, according to a post on the r/halo subreddit by user rcsrex, this could very well be. A new site has popped up that has a small tease for Halo Wars, as well as a countdown timer. The site, www.thehalowars.com, has a small dialogue window, along with spoken dialogue from the UNSC Spirit of Fire’s AI, Serena. The dialogue on the sight can be seen below.
As you can see, the countdown timer ends on December 17th, about 10 days before the Halo 5 beta.
Now, thanks to u/rcsrex, we also see that this site is indeed owned by Microsoft. An image that shows this can be seen below.

The only problems that come up from this site are that when you click the twitter #SpiritofFire link, it already talks about Halo Wars 2. And it’s unlikely that this would be announced already.
Then, the ESRB Rating Pending symbol does not link to the ESRB’s website.
But, according to u/Reaper1411 from the comments of the post, the code of the website has coding for a pre-order button, “Coming to Xbox One”, and some other things relating to the title.
So, from all of this, the legitimacy of the site could very well go either way. I have reached out to Phil Spencer and Frank O’Connor for comment, and will update if we receive any new information.
