A Comparison Between Google Glass And Samsung Gear Blink

by GH Staff

Google Glass has proved to be a rage among users. These wearable eye glasses provide for a seamless and smooth integration of mobile technology with prescription glasses.

Samsung, the Korean giant has decided not to lag behind. There are reports of the company launching a similar wearable eyeglass, the Gear Blink in early 2015. Samsung is already rivaling many of Apple and Google products and looks to do the same in the wearable technology segment.

Some of the features that are provided by Google Glass currently include the ability to capture images and videos. Users can do this very simply through voice instructions. The captured images and videos can be shared with others in real time. The Google Glass also provides for email and text message notifications and allows users to simply respond to them with voice commands. The device is also integrated with other Google products and includes searching of locations and directions, again only requiring users to provide simple voice commands. Google Now is also integrated with the Glass and provides users with a very handy tool to keep track of schedules, locations and user habits. It also provides for users to set virtual reminders. The Google Glass is also capable of language translation and is equipped with nifty gesture recognition features to recognize tilt of the user’s head and blinking of the eyes. In addition to all these features, the Google Glass also supports voice calling and chatting, is compatible with many third party applications and can also be added to prescription eyewear.

The full feature list of the Samsung Gear Blink has not been revealed yet. However, potential features of the device in comparison to the Glass have already flooded the internet. It is expected that the Blink will run on Samsung’s Tizen proprietary OS. It is also rumored that the device will portray a virtual keyboard instead of voice recognition features. The device may also feature augmented reality, wherein any element viewed will be enhanced and more information about the viewed item or location. The Blink will probably also incorporate Bluetooth in order to transfer files easily. The Blink will also need to be compatible with prescription eyeglasses in order for it to fully compete with the Google Glass in the global market.

Considering all of these rumors, it is expected that Google Glass will offer users more ease of use, with voice recognition capabilities and simple gesture movements. The integration with various other quality Google products such as search and maps will also prove to be a major upside to using this product. On the other hand, the Blink, with Bluetooth integration and augmented reality features may prove to be very handy to users who keep transferring images and files often. Blink will also please those who look for the best deals and information related to locations visited and any amenities available around the area captured by the Blink device.

Users will need to wait for the launch of the Samsung Gear Blink, scheduled for early next year in order to make an accurate comparison with the already launched and being used Google Glass.
