Thanking Indie Developers Day 17: Aesop Games

by GH Staff

For the seventeenth entry of the on-going celebration for indie game developers, Gamer Headlines is proud to present Aesop Games and Brunelleschi Age of Architects; started since the early 2000s, this strategy web-based game allows personal computer users to play for an extended period of time as a virtual character who can either be a lord  who builds an empire and economy over time or a hero who conquer armies. By spending action points that accumulates over time, these players can increase the hero/heroine’s level, gathering various materials to construct settlements, and govern the society based on the online user’s preferences and strategies. Besides reading the online statistical content, players can escape into the three-dimensional parallel world and explore their settlements in progress that are made through Unity 3D.

Surprisingly, the whole production is run by a team comprised of three individuals: Matt (game designer), Rebecca (Unity developer), and Margaret (programmer). These innovative creators will often chat and provide reports on an active forum that players can post at any time. Again, folks can experience this fantasy role-playing game on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

After providing a small summary about the game, here’s a special appreciation message from one of the developers!

“The reason I love this game that I am making is that it captures the heart of what I came to love about the shared gaming experience.  There is near endless depth of functionality available to unlock and play with so that you can enjoy building your game world with your friends indefinitely.

It also merges rich story telling elements from fantasy with the fascinating complexity of historical reenactment, allowing the player to create a new richer version of past events while absorbing a larger understanding of how and why things came about the way they did.”
