Should You Buy The HTC Desire 820?

The HTC Desire 820 was revealed back in September, and since then has been taking over slowly the Indian market. HTC decided to make some big changes to this device, in particularly provides a rear 13MP camera. HTC has released on the Indian Market three other devices that include the Desire 816G, the Desire 816, and the Desire Eye.

Price

The HTC Desire 820 in India costs $405, and you can purchase through Snapdeal in the color white. If you were to purchase in doors, it is priced cheaper at $399. However, you will get six months free of 3G data if purchased through Snapdeal.

Dimensions and Displays

The thin and wide smartphone on weighs 155 grams and measures 157.7 x 78.7x 7.7 mm. The LCD 5.5 inch display has a 720 x 1280 average resolution, which provides a low 267 ppi pixel density. The company opts to not protect the phone using Corning Gorilla Glass technology, which helps in protecting against drops or scratches.

OS and Processor

The HTC Desire 820 is powered by an octa core processor that runs on the latest 64-bit chip from Qualcomm, along with the Snapdragon 615. It uses the quad-core Cortex A53 that clock at 1.5GHz, and quad-core Cortex A53 at 1GHz. They use an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics, and 2GB of RAM, in which provides multitasking support. It has 16GB of internal memory, but can be expanded up to 128GB.

The HTC Desire 820 operates on the Android KitKat v4.4.2 along with the HTC Sense 6 UI.

Camera

No longer do you have the 4MP Ultrapixel cam. It has upgraded to the back 13MP camera that provides rear BSI sensor, along with f2.2 lenses; that can record 1080p@30fps videos. The equally impressive 8MP front camera is great for those that want to take a couple of selfies.

Battery

It provides up to 22 hours of talk time on its 2600mAH battery unit. Which is quite impressive for a smaller unit.

Challengers

The HTC Desire 820 is a mid-range device that runs with a 64-bit chipset. Until Samsung releases the Galaxy A7, HTC will have to compete with the Lenovo Vibe X2, Moto X, Nexus 5, and the Huawei Honor 6.
