I’ve been playing (along with the majority of the gaming populace) BioWare’s majestic new entry into the Dragon Age franchise, Dragon Age: Inquisition, since November 12th – for nearly 2 weeks. I’m about 65 hours in, and by the looks of things, I’m coming up on the end of the critical narrative of the game.
Throughout my epic journey in Thedas, I’ve done a multitude of things. I’ve created and re-rolled about 7 different characters of a variety of races, classes, and skills in order to test out my preferred playstyle (as well as mess around with Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s competent character creator – Note to BioWare: Get better beards).
Eventually, I settled on a human mage with an emphasis on the Storm and Ice skill tress. I’ve killed dragons, been killed by dragons, made defining political choices, slept around and killed hundreds of Nugs (Theda’s version of cute bunny rabbits), among many other things.
However, there is one thing I noticed that threw me for a bit of a loop, and it doesn’t even really have anything to do with my enjoyment of Dragon Age: Inquisition. But the obsessive-compulsiveness in me just couldn’t get over it.
So here goes:
Basically, at the beginning of Dragon Age: Inquisition, your character inexplicably comes out of a Rift with a green, glowing mark on his or her hand (I’ll refer to it as “The Mark” from here on out). The aforementioned “Mark” is clearly seen on your character’s left hand. Throughout Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s prologue mission, you close a couple of Rifts with “The Mark” on your left hand. For the duration of the game, you always close Rifts with your left hand.
One day however, right before I was about to delve into another session of Dragon Age: Inquisition, I glanced at the game’s cover art in my Origin library. I thought to myself, “Wow, I like the way that looks, all that green, those classy subdued colors, epic style…WAIT…what!?”
My surprise was due to a confounding error on BioWare’s (or their designated cover artist’s) part: “The Mark” on the the Inquisitor displayed on the front cover of Dragon Age: Inquisition is using his or her RIGHT hand to close the Rift/Breach.
Naturally, I was confused, frazzled, even bewildered. As I’ve said before, it really has no effect on my enjoyment of Dragon Age: Inquisition, but it’s curious since the game is so detailed and on-point that BioWare’s artists would make such an error.
I’ll post a couple of pictures showcasing the error below, courtesy of this link by someone who also noticed the mistake:

Nevertheless, I’m continuing my magnificently enjoyable sojourn throughout Ferelden and Orlais, albeit a bit unsure as to whether my Inquisitor’s “Mark” is defective or if my OCD is just becoming unmanageable.

What do you think about this? Is it a simple oversight on BioWare’s part or is it part of some some diabolical plan to frustrate all OCD-stricken gamers out there?
