After cancelling an announced project Double Fine had to let 12 staff members go
In an interview over the weekend with Gamesindustry.biz, Double Fine revealed that they had to let 12 members of staff go after an unannounced project was “expectedly cancelled by its publishers“.
During the interview Tim Schafer (the studio head of Double Fine) explained that “One of our unannounced projects was unexpectedly cancelled by its publisher, forcing us to reduce our staff by 12 people. Our remaining projects–Broken Age, Massive Chalice, and Grim Fandango Remastered, were unaffected“.
Double Fine will be showing off Grim Fandango Remastered at the PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas this December and it will be coming out for the PS4 and PS Vita as well as the PC, Mac and Linux.
Meanwhile Double Fines Massive Chalice was released recently on Steam Early Access and is a tactical strategy game with permadeath, where players can marry off their heroes to make children through the Bloodline system. This system means that every child is unique and they have a chance of inheriting the best and worst traits of their parents. The game is expected to be released next spring and if you buy now you’ll get 25% off the final price.
