State of Decay will be getting a new DLC in the foreseeable future. The zombie survival game launched last year, and is largely regarded as being a sleeper hit. It’s not bad at all, but for some reason, it never really caught the public’s eye. Regardless, a major DLC is in the works, and it will be entitled State of Decay: Lifeline. It’s a rather nice hint at the beauty of life, it’s legacy, and how it all suddenly ends when a zombie chews your limbs off. Oh well…
Before you get all hyped, there’s no release date as of yet. The only bit of information community manager Sanya Weathers managed to squeeze out was that the DLC is currently undergoing internal testing using Steam, and that when it’s done, it will be released consecutively on the PC and Xbox 360. According to Sanya, State of Decay: Lifeline will “broaden your horizons by a few kilometers”. What she probably means is that there will be huge changes to the core gameplay. We know that a new game mode will be introduced, and Sanya (I just love typing that name for some reason) revealed that a new map is also going to be included.
That pretty much sums it up. That’s all the information we’re getting for now, but new design features will be revealed towards the end of February. I’m very excited about what Lifeline will do to State of Decay, and I’m hoping that the DLC will have enough traction to pull the game out from the zombie-infested shadows and into the glorious spotlights of the gaming community. After all, it’s a great game that obviously still needed some work and improvements, but brought a level of quality and freshness to the zombie survival-genre that we rarely see.
Best of luck to the developers and fingers crossed for a great DLC. Are you guys excited about it?
