Zombie survival game State of Decay will be coming to the Xbox One in 2015. The port called: State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition will run at 1080p resolution, and will include two add-ons for the game, Breakdown and Lifeline. The Xbox One version will also contain new content that is currently unspecified.

State of Decay is widely regarded as a fantastic game. The combat is satisfying, guns are rare to find (meaning this isn’t your usual run-and-gun zombie game), and the upgrade system is surprisingly in depth, enabling you to learn new skills and combat moves.

The game is also renowned for its cruel death penalty. In that once your character dies, he or she is dead for good. Once you die, you take control of one of the many other characters found in the game. The harshest penalty is that your stats don’t carry over to this new character. So say you spend ages leveling up your stamina and blunt weapon skills, only to get slightly overconfident and run into a house, straight into a zombie ambush. You die, and you take control of another character, with the lowest stamina and blunt weapon skills available. You may be far into the game, so being stuck with a crappy character will really put you at a disadvantage. No second chances here.

The game has interesting “stealth” mechanics (if you can call it that). Make too much noise opening a door or searching through a rucksack (how loudly one can search through a rucksack I have no idea), and you’re sure to attract more zombies. That amazing gun you found? Fire it off and you’re in for a world of pain once the zombies hear.

The game is already available on PC through Steam and Xbox 360, I would highly recommend trying this out. If you want, wait for the Xbox One version with all the added beauties to play this gem.
