It hasn’t even been a month since Ubisoft‘s disastrous Assassin’s Creed Unity launch and information has been leaked revealing what next year’s entry into the polarizing Assassin’s Creed franchise will bring in terms of both setting and gameplay.
According to a 7-minute “target gameplay” video shown to Kotaku staff, Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed game – which is aptly codenamed Victory – will be set in 19th century Victorian London.
Victory is slated to release sometime during the fall of 2015, most likely around the same time Assassin’s Creed Unity released this year, November 11th. The game will presumably be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.

Assassin’s Creed Victory – Coming Fall 2015
It appears that rather than being developed by Assassin’s Creed Unity’s primary development studio, Ubisoft Montreal, Victory will be helmed by the company’s Quebec studio, which has contributed to previous Assassin’s Creed games, such as Brotherhood, ACIII‘s The Tyranny of King Washington DLC, and ACIV: Black Flag‘s Freedom Cry expansion.
Earlier this year, Ubisoft’s official blog teased that their Quebec studio would be the main studio in charge of development of a future Assassin’s Creed game, it appears that Victory is it.
Another notable piece of development information is that Victory appears to be the only Assassin’s Creed entry next fall at this time, meaning that there won’t be a case of double releases, such as this year’s tepid Unity/Rogue one-two punch.
Moving on, according to individuals who have seen the actual target footage of Victory, the game appears to be using the same engine as Unity, that is – the revamped AnvilNext engine.
In the aforementioned target gameplay footage, Ubisoft seems to be striving for innovation, not just in era and setting, but also in regards to gameplay, seeing as the game includes various new features such as a grappling hook, multiple fights on top of moving vehicles, among many others.
Ubisoft has commented on the news of Victory being leaked, confirming it as true, saying the following in regards to the matter:
“It is always unfortunate when internal assets, not intended for public consumption, are leaked. And, while we certainly welcome anticipation for all of our upcoming titles, we’re disappointed for our fans, and our development team, that this conceptual asset is now public. The team in our Quebec studio has been hard at work on the particular game in question for the past few years, and we’re excited to officially unveil what the studio has been working on at a later date. In the meantime, our number one priority is enhancing the experience of Assassin’s Creed Unity for players.”
Keep in mind that what has been shown is not representative of the game as a whole (most likely far from it), but you can be sure that Gamer Headlines will do its best to bring the last Assassin’s Creed Victory news as it becomes available.
What are your thoughts on this surprising announcement? Is it too soon, given Ubisoft’s less-than-steller track record and Unity’s failed launch?
