A new update is now live for Shinji Mikami’s survival horror title The Evil Within on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, publisher Bethesda Softworks has announced.

The patch requires a 1GB download and addresses “minor bug fixes and optimizations” in The Evil Within.

The Bethesda Blog didn’t clarify as to whether or not the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will be receiving this update, but the publisher did state that a patch is currently in development for the PC version.

Released worldwide in October 2014, Mikami’s latest IP was met with a mixed reception by critics, with players assuming the role of Sebastian Castellanos as they attempt to discover the individual responsible for the countless deaths at Beacon Mental Hospital.

Gamer Headlines’ review for The Evil Within labelled it as “far from a successful triumph” for a title developed by someone with such a prestigious résumé like Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil and Dino Crisis), citing that a primary flaw was that “an underwhelming narrative in a story-driven survival horror title will dishearten any horror enthusiast.”
