What do you do when you have a video game series that has had the player take over a city multiple times, become the President of the United States, and defeat an alien invasion? Probably go home for a well deserved break, but when you’re part of politically involved gang/pop culture icon oddly responsible for both conquering and avenging the world from its utter destruction, your work is never done. Deep Silver has released a new trailer today for the upcoming Saint’s Row IV: Gat Out of Hell expansion.
If you simply couldn’t get enough of Pierce singing radio duets with The Boss, (or joined in on the singing…what, was I the only one?) the trailer below will probably make you smile. The following five-minute video shows off the once-hidden musical talents of Johnny Gat and Kenzie Kensington; a short introduction to what Deep Silver says will be “a full length musical number” for the upcoming DLC.
The Saint’s Row series has a knack for its often parodying, over-the top and some times insane Adult Swim-like humor, but this trailer is surprisingly…normal. The five-minute opera short doesn’t really attempt to throw any jokes, (at least none to its usual caliber) and yet it still manages to be a bit hilarious. After the minute and a half mark, the musical number doesn’t exactly sound out-of-place from a certain “frigid” Disney musical, albeit in a much hotter environment. Thankfully, players will be experiencing this from the comfort of their own home, so the heat will never bother you anyway.
In Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, players will get to play as either Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kensington as they defeat the demons of Hell in a quest to save the Saint’s row leader. You’ll get to meet historical icons, meet old friends and enemies, and even make use of a talking gun. For players who have not yet played Saint’s Row IV, Gat out of Hell will be included in the upcoming Saint’s Row IV: Re-Elected Edition, which will include the base game and Gat out of Hell for next generation consoles on PS4, Xbox One, or PC. Both Re-Elected and the stand alone expansion are scheduled to be released on Janurary 20, 2015.
