Preview of Cortana on Windows 10 Desktop in Video

by GH Staff

On December 5, 2014, Microsoft has brought its virtual assistant known as Cortana to France, Germany, Spain, and Italy, in her alpha form. In the midst of bringing her to these nations, some exciting news has emerged about Cortana running on the desktop from the unreleased Windows 10 builds. Here’s a video demonstration on “Windows 10: Pre-Release Cortana on Desktop”.

As stated in the video, her looks will look ten times better because this version is meant for testers. From this preview demonstration, she can call people through Skype from the address book’s contact information, check the calendar, use the reminding feature, set alarms, take notes, play music, check the weather, etc. through voice commands. According to VentureBeat’s article by Emil Protelinski, it’s worth noting that Cortana doesn’t have her usual Windows Phone personality on Windows 10 desktop, meaning she doesn’t answer questions like “Who are you?” Like other Cortana features, that part is still unfinished. When Cortana does speak, she still sounds like Cortana in the Halo franchise that’s voiced by Jen Taylor.

For those wondering, some believe the company will unveil Cortana at its Windows 10 consumer preview event next month, but there’s no consensus on when exactly the virtual assistant will become available to testers. However, it is established that Windows 10 is coming to PCs, smartphones, tablets, and many other devices as “Windows 10.” Since Cortana first debuted on Windows Phone, tech users already know what to expect on smartphones but not the desktop since desktops are more complex.

As another quick reminder, it’s important to note that Cortana is far from finished! To read the original source, please visit this article. Twitter tags used #Cortana, #Windows10, #Microsoft and #Tech.
