Prototype Free With Playstation Plus Due To Glitch

Prototype

Activision’s 2009 action-adventure title Prototype is currently free on the EU PSN store if you have a Playstation Plus subscription. While the Playstation 3 title is not a part of December’s Instant Games Collection offering, it is instead currently obtainable through a method found by HUKD user sweep_puppy.

The method is fairly simple and exploits a timer function error by Sony in the 1 hour trials offering by the Playstation Store;  sweep_puppy explained what needs to be done in order to keep Prototype for more than 1 hour:

“Search Prototype on PSN Store Select Full Game Trial Download & Play. Now after 1 Hour It will Say expired but the game will still Load and play perfectly. Turn off PS3 Switch on Still works.”

This method worked for some members in the HUKD community so it is definitely worth trying out for yourself before Sony becomes wise to it. Unfortunately, at the moment this method only seems to work on the EU PSN store.

Prototype is an excellent open-world title which takes place in the big apple, New York. The game revolves around anti-hero Alex Mercer, a superhuman with a plethora of extremely cool superpowers like shape-shifting, super-healing and more. The game originally released in the same time-frame as the highly popular Playstation exclusive Infamous, which is also an open-world game about a protagonist with super-powers, this led to many debates and comparisons between the two titles.
