Final Fantasy XV’s demo will be “exclusive” for people who purchase the upcoming Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, according to publisher Square Enix.
Scott Strichart, associate product marketing manager for Square Enix, confirmed the news alongside the announcement of a Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Collector’s Edition on the PlayStation Blog, and he said that the publisher will “never” be releasing the demo, titled “Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae,” outside of Type-0 HD.
“First, as [Hajime] Tabata-san said in a recent episode of Square Enix Presents, this demo is exclusive to Final Fantasy Type-0 HD,” he wrote. “We’re never going to release it as a stand-alone piece down the line.
“Secondly, it’s intended to be a special gift for those of you who purchase early — the demo will be limited to the “Day One” edition of the game, meaning that only the first shipment is going to have the demo in it. So if the demo is something you think you might like, we highly encourage you to pre-order or to be quick about getting to the store on launch day, March 17th, 2015.”
Earlier this year, Hajime Tabata, the director of the upcoming Final Fantasy Type-0 HD and Final Fantasy XV, revealed that Noctis Lucis Caelum, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy XV, is the only controllable character in the JRPG.
Square Enix has also released a trailer for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD called “The World at War,” which centres on the four nations — Kingdom of Concordia, Lorican Alliance, Dominion of Rubrum and Militesi Empire — in the world of Orience.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will launch in North America first on March 17th, 2015 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, while Japan will receive the title on March 19th and March 20th in Europe.
