Since the reveal that P.T., an interactive teaser released on the PlayStation Store following the end of Sony’s press conference at Gamescom, was actually the codename for a new Silent Hill title being developed by Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and film director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth & The Orphanage), there has been a slow influx of news regarding the eagerly awaited horror title.
Norman Reedus, the main star of P.T. and Silent Hills, has recently finished an AMA (“Ask Me Anything”) session on Reddit and explained that the “heavy stuff” for the title is yet to be done.
“I’m super excited to be a part of [Silent Hills],” he said. “Both [Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro] are geniuses at what they do. We haven’t shot the heavy stuff yet.”
When he was asked about which director initially approached him for the Silent Hills project, Reedus offered a straightforward response: “Kojima approached me right after Guillermo did.”
Reedus, best known for his role as Daryl Dixon in AMC’s The Walking Dead, will be doing the motion capture for his unnamed character in Silent Hills, which was confirmed at the end of P.T. with a short cinematic sequence — and it’s safe to assume he’ll be doing the voice, too.
Publisher Konami launched the official website for P.T. earlier this year (mainly consisting of videos, images and a link to download the teaser), while Kojima has hinted that Silent Hills may be released in an episodic format similar to Telltale Games’ titles or Capcom’s Resident Evil Revelations 2.
Running on Kojima Productions’ Fox Engine, Silent Hills has only been confirmed for release on PlayStation 4 at this moment in time, but Kojima has promised one thing that players can expect in the upcoming horror title: “we are aiming for a game that will make you sh*t your pants.”
