A man from Denver, Colorado – Igor Baksht – recently purchased a GTA 5 PlayStation 4 bundle from Walmart as a Christmas gift only to find that the box was filled with rocks rather than Sony’s current-generation console.

According to Baksht, a Walmart employee told him that the PS4 console bundle was previously returned. As such, he opened up the package to ensure that everything was in place before wrapping and giving the gift to his 13-year-old niece for Christmas, saying the following to ABC 7News:

“(I opened the box) just to make sure everything was inside, that all the contents were inside, all the games were inside.”

However, instead of finding a PlayStation 4 and the included games/peripherals, Baksht found the box filled with a bunch of rocks (2 bags, to be precise, wrapped up like drugs.)

Baksht went on to say: “When I opened it, I said, ‘Oh my God.‘”

Naturally, Baksht went back to Walmart to return the box of rocks. However, the retailer said that it wouldn’t accept the return due to the lack of proof of the PS4 bundle’s state when it originally came into the store’s inventory.

In response to Walmart’s initial refusal of the PS4 bundle return, Baksht said:

If they give me a PlayStation, I’ll take a PlayStation if they give me the same bundle that I paid for. If they give me another console plus two games, I’ll take that, but if they don’t have it, I’ll take the money back and buy it from somebody else.”

But on Christmas Eve, the Walmart manager gave in and agreed to the return, giving Baksht his money back.

In closing, Baksht urged customers of any retailer to be wary of the contents of respective purchases, especially during the holiday season.

What are your thoughts on this news? Do you find it amusing? Reprehensible on the returner’s part? Or a little bit of both? Have you ever experience something along the lines of Baksht’s situation?
