Chris Roberts frequently publishes articles whenever a milestone is reached or whenever something important needs to be discussed, and the turn of the New Year was no exception.
Roberts’ “Letter from the Chairman” this time around reflected back on the progress Star Citizen has come since the beginning of 2014, including the demos of the game’s anticipated first-person shooter module and multi-crew ship combat.
Even though the official launch of Star Citizen is well over the horizon and then some, Roberts has promised that this year will see to the beginnings of the game’s promised first-person shooter and persistent universe modules. The first-person shooter module itself will go live for Star Citizen backers, whilst smaller features of the larger persistent universe will start rolling out as well. These features include the Arena Commander multi-crew system, the Planetside social module and the first episode of Squadron 42 (Star Citizen’s singleplayer campaign).
“2015 is where the game will be shaped,” Roberts added. “And it will be shaped with your input. So get in the game and let us know what works and what doesn’t for you!”
According to Roberts, the number one priority for the team behind the persistent universe’s development is building it in such a way where players themselves can affect it. Similar to EVE Online, Roberts wants Star Citizen to be community-driven once the game launches. It’s because of this that Cloud Imperium Games have been working on integrating and enhancing Organization support both in the official Roberts Space Industries website and in Star Citizen itself.
