As promised by Sony yesterday, the trailer for The Order 1886 is finally here. It’s definitely not as revealing as we would have hoped, showing off a mixture of CGI generated sequenced, combined with some in-game footage. While the trailer does not focus on the action game’s gameplay, it does describe the context of the story-line, and sets up the setting of the game. Industrial-age London is where all the action takes place (the era is suggested in the title too, obviously), and throughout the entire trailer, a definite steam-punk feel can be sensed.
Sony’s exclusive for the Playstation 4 will be coming later this year (most likely during fall), and is said to put the “next” in next-gen. As mentioned previously, The Order 1886 will run at 30 frames (and will be capped as such) per second, but will be rendered in full, native and gorgeous 1080p. The background for The Order 1886’s plot lies in an alternate universe, one where an order of knights struggles to keep humanity safe from half bred monsters. By the period the game takes place in, humanity is on the brink of martial law. That being said, there’s definitely an eerie and horror feel to The Order 1886, which combined with the steam-punk setting sounds quite original and appealing. On the creative side, developer Ready at Dawn has been drawing inspiration from Uncharted 2.
The Order 1886 will focus solely on singleplayer, and will not feature a multiplayer of any kind, even though initial speculation suggested at least a cooperative mode. More footage and screenshots will surely follow in the wake of this trailer, a trailer that we’ll now let you enjoy:
