2014 is going to be a busy year for the guys at Bethesda. Elder Scrolls Online’s launch on the 4th of April is not the only major release of the developer and publisher this spring, as it seems Wolfenstein: The New Order will be coming shortly afterwards, on the 20th of May in the United States, and on the 23rd of May in Europe. The classic Wolfenstein is rebooted with The New Order, and sets players on a Nazi hunt during the 1960s in a parallel universe in which the Nazis have actually won World War II. Playing as the Blazkowicz once again, you’ll get to dispose of Nazi “scum” (as he calls them) in various and brutal means. Alongside the announcement of Wolfenstein: The New Order comes a new gameplay trailer as well. The game will launch on all major platforms, specifically the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.
Pre-orders for the game have been made available, and the extras for paying up front are exceedingly interesting. Those that choose to pre-order Wolfenstein: The New Order will also gain access to the beta stage of DOOM, by receiving a beta-invite based on their copy of the game. DOOM is currently developed by id Software and is being published by Bethesda, and is built on the id Tech 5 engine. When exactly the new DOOM will be released remains a mystery, especially considering that the 4th installment in the franchise has been in development for a very long time and has been sent back to the drawing-board on multiple occasions.
As for Wolfenstein: The New Order, it can already be pre-ordered from retailers world-wide, and is priced at $59.99. It hasn’t received an ESRB rating yet, but that rating will most likely be an M. For more on the game, you can check the spanking new trailer below:
