What will be the price of the Samsung Galaxy S5?

by GH Staff

There’s no doubt the Samsung Galaxy S4 was a popular and successful smartphone model. Thus, the expectations for the Samsung Galaxy S5 are high, and Samsung’s phone is considered to be one of the most anticipated models to launch this year. What will the Galaxy S5 feature? Well, rumors suggest it will come with an impressive 5.2 inch display, with a resolution of 560ppi, meaning 2560×1440. In other words, it’s visual clarity for smartphones that is hard to match. The design of the Samsung Galaxy S5 will receive some upgrades as well, most likely through a metal finish casing that so far has been somewhat exclusive to HTC. That’s not to say that a plastic cased version won’t be available, but Samsung will most likely cater to more buyers and have different versions of the phone on the market.

The Galaxy S4’s strong hardware will also be receiving an inevitable boost, with the best bets being laid upon the importation of the Note 3’s RAM, more specifically 3GB of it. One other important aspect will surely be revised (as multiple leaks suggested), mainly the UI. The Samsung Galaxy S5 will receive an improved UI, and it’s the best we’ve currently seen on Android. It takes the best parts from the Windows Phone (such as the Tiles), and integrates them successfully within Android. More will surely be revealed in the upcoming weeks, most likely during the Mobile World Congress at the end of February.

But what price-tag will be associated with the SGS5? Well, it’s not going to be a cheap model, that’s for sure. Samsung’s Galaxy line was almost always aimed at the top end of the market, and the S5 will be no exception. The best screen and display on the market and some impressive hardware will take a toll on prices. Most estimates set the Samsung Galaxy S5 at a price around £600, meaning roughly $1000. That’s quite a lot. Then again, it’s almost certainly going to be the alpha dog of the pack. Will it be a justified upgrade from a Samsung Galaxy S4? Probably not, in fact, the Galaxy S4 is already a monster of a phone. Heck, even the Galaxy S3 is still a perfectly viable solution for more modest budgets. But then, those that are simply looking for the best will not flinch at the price, which still seems to be within reason. Mind-you, this price estimate for the Samsung Galaxy S5 is nowhere near set in stone, and it’s also card-free, so with a new deal, you’ll likely be able to pick it up for a lot less.
