Titanfall is highly anticipated, that much is certain. If there was any doubt before, these doubts were laid to rest after Titanfall’s community manager Abbie Heppe declared that the beta stage for Respawn’s upcoming FPS saw more than 2 million players in the game. Abbie Heppe revealed the numbers through an exclusive interview with Polygon. Titanfall’s beta stage lasted from the 15th to the 19th of February, so considering that it ran for only 4 days, 2 million is quite an impressive number. The large number of players joining to test the game shows that Respawn seems capable of safely launching Titanfall on the 11th of March. It also shows that the Microsoft Xbox Live service can deal with such an influx of players, a matter of great importance that has not been tested properly before. Without the Xbox Live service properly functioning, Titanfall’s console players would be unable to play at all.
It seems that Respawn has also detected some major issues during the beta, issues that they have since addressed, improving the chances of a smooth, problem-free launch. And smooth is the key word needed for Titanfall’s launch, if it has any hope of rebuilding consumer trust in EA after the problematic launches of SimCity and Battlefield 4. While Respawn’s beta for Titanfall was considered successful, and a multitude of streams and impressions can already be found online, not everything went according to plan for the company. Curious and persistent players have managed to dig up some interesting information about Titanfall, information that technically should have remained hidden until launch. Among the leaks (that include weapon names and character perks) were the names of Titanfall’s maps, along with some screenshots that show off what each map will look like. Take a look at the leaked maps in the gallery below, and let us know what you think. If you’ve played the beta, don’t be afraid to share your impressions on our forums.
