The trend of expanding Android KitKat 4.4.2 support to as many devices as possible isn’t a new one. We’ve seen similar trends with Android 4.3 and various versions of Jelly Bean. In fact, even Gingerbread used to be considered an operating system worth aspiring towards at some time. Most devices releasing this year already come with KitKat installed, but what about older, still capable devices?
Following a trend started in February, HTC will be bringing Android 4.4.2 KitKat support to the HTC One Max. The same software update that we’ve seen for the HTC One will be coming to the HTC One Max starting Monday afternoon, at least in the USA. Not only will the HTC One Max get Android 4.4.2 KitKat, it will also be receiving the Sense UI 5.5 update to go along with it. The announcement came from Mo Versi, the product manager for HTC, via Twitter.
HTC Verizon One Max Owners! We have received technical approval for Sense 5.5 + OS 4.4.2! Expect the OTA update to start on Monday afternoon

The update will be coming gradually to HTC One Max owners, meaning you’ll be receiving it sometime during the next week, and not necessarily on Monday. Verizon Wireless is next on the list, and HTC One Max owners should consider themselves lucky, as other smartphones from last year’s line-up have yet to receive Android KitKat 4.4.2 updates. Not even the Samsung Galaxy S4 update has been released by Verizon yet. In order to update your phone, as always, go to your settings menu and select the check for updates option. If nothing happens outright, don’t be alarmed, as stated before, the update will take several days to reach all users. Of course, as you’d expect, the Android KitKat update is completely free to download.
