Video Game Releases for the Week of 11/10/2014

In what could possibly be the busiest week of 2014, a staggering amount of 29 games are launching throughout the week of November 10. Featuring some of the biggest titles of the year with Assassin’s Creed: Rogue & UnityThe Master Chief CollectionLego Batman 3, as well as indies such as Retro City Rampage DXAmphora and Tengami, there are enough games releasing this week to sustain an entire year. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you perceive the situation), it will be even worse next week with more AAA titles launching as well.

Note: All of the dates and prices listed below are for North American territories. Also, keep in mind that this list is subject to change with new games potentially announced or launching this week without notice.

Tuesday November 11, 2014:

  • Assassin’s Creed: Rogue

Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

Price: $59.99

Embark on a brand new Assassin’s Creed journey featuring a brand new assassin named Shay Patrick Cormac. However, Cormac isn’t your typical assassin. Rogue tells the story of how he was abandoned by the Brotherhood of Assassin’s and how he became an Assassin-Hunter working for the Templars. The gameplay is very similar to last year’s Black Flag as it puts a lot of attention on the naval combat side of the game. Look out for our review of Assassin’s Creed: Rogue in the next few days.

  • Assassin’s Creed: Unity

Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC

Price: $59.99

Yes, Ubisoft is releasing two Assassin’s Creed games on the same day. This time, it’s the current gen focused Assassin’s Creed: Unity, set in Paris, France during the French Revolution. As Arno Dorian, you’ll be able to explore the massive story open world alone, or with up to three other players for the first time in Assassin’s Creed history. Throughout his journey, Arno will meet historic figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte, Maximilien de Robespierre and Marquis de Sade as he works his way up through the Brotherhood of Assassins ranks.

  • Digimon All-Star Rumble

Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

Price: $39.99

Featuring 12 playable Digimon, and a total of 32 forms, you’ll be able to duke it out in this fighting game to see who will be the champion of the Digimon Evolution Tournament. Your Digimon will need to combine strength, Digivolution and their Super forms to come out on top.

  • Get Off My Lawn!

Platform: PlayStation Vita (Digital Only)

Price: $TBD

Defend Murray Mendelson’s home from an alien invasion by combining his rage for people trespassing on his lawn and his destructive shotgun.

  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Platform: Xbox One

Price: $59.99

Gearing up for Halo 5: Guardians, 343 Industries is releasing all four Halo games that included Master Chief with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. These versions aren’t just simple ports of their original console versions; they are re-worked versions all running at 1080p and 60 frames per second on their original engines. Most of all, it includes the Anniversary edition of Halo 2, which has been redone with new Xbox One visuals and various other modern upgrades. In addition to getting all four amazing First-Person Shooters, players will also get instant access to the Halo: Nightfall series, directed by Ridley Scott, and access to the Halo 5: Guardians Beta, which will kick off in December.   • LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

Prices: $59.99 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Versions, $49.99 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U Versions, $29.99 for the PlayStation Vita, 3DS and PC Versions

Can’t get enough of LEGO games? Well, you’re in luck because Traveler’s Tales and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment are bringing over 150 DC Comics characters in LEGO form with LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. Set after the events of LEGO Batman 2, Batman and the Justice League must stop Brainiac’s plans of controlling the universe.

  • Minecraft 

Platform: PlayStation Vita (Retail Only)

Price: $19.99

The PlayStation Vita version of Minecraft is now making its way in physical form to your local retail store. Minecraft Vita Edition is the perfect game to have on-the-go to simply pull out and  get lost in a creative world for hours on end.

  • Nano Assault NEO-X

Platform: PlayStation 4 (Digital Only)

Price: $TBD

Destroy viruses in a microscopic world in this twin-stick shoot’em up featuring 60 frames per second, 1080p visuals and two-player co-op.  Will you be strong enough to take on a million enemies single-handedly?

  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2015

Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC (Available November 12)

Prices: $59.99 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Versions, $39.99 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Versions, $29.99 for the PC Version

The fourteenth edition of Konami’s soccer simulation franchise, Pro Evolution Soccer, is making it may to your console in the form of PES 2015. This latest installment puts a bigger emphasis on the current generation versions’ improvements, featuring character models that look and play like their real-life counterparts, real-time animations, a bigger sense of atmosphere and new lighting effects.

  • Retro City Rampage DX

Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita (Digital Only and Cross-Buy All Platforms)

Price: $9.99 ($7.99 for PlayStation Plus Members)

Following its original release on 3DS, Retro City Rampage DX, the remastered Director’s Cut version of the indie-developed top-down game, is hitting the PlayStation consoles this week. With reworked missions, controls and challenges, RCR promises a retro-inspired experience unlike any other. Additionally, Retro City Rampage DX includes both RCR:DX and the original RCR title as well.

  • Ring Run Circus

Platform: PlayStation Vita (Digital Only, PlayStation TV Compatible)

Price: $9.99 ($7.99 for PlayStation Plus Members)

In this unique Action-Puzzle game, you must ride outside and inside of the rings in order to grab each of the levels’ key and stars. Since all of the playable characters are acrobats, they have their own special abilities that will help trigger mechanisms to move the rings around. Additionally, more than 50 levels are included in Ring Run Circus.

  • Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit!

Platform: PlayStation Vita (Digital Only)

Price: $14.99

Fighting and cooking are mixed together to provide an experience unlike any other in this spinoff game inspired by the Senran Kagura series. As the legendary sinobi Master Hanzo, you must create the best dish of the Super Dish Cook-off to obtain the Secret Ninja Art Scroll, which is a magical item that grants one wish to whoever possesses it. You’ll need to combine rhythm and timing, while listening to the game’s 10 songs, to win the cooking standoffs.

  • Shape Up

Platform: Xbox One

Price: $59.99

Shape Up is Ubisoft Montreal’s new fitness game that relies heavily on the power of Kinect on Xbox One. It combines real-life exercise with video game-like mini-games, and, thanks to the power of the camera, the player can keep track of his exercise routine and see how much calories he has burned. It’s a smart alternative if you cannot afford those big exercise machines.

  • Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric

Platform: Wii U

Price: $49.99

The Wii U version of Sonic Boom introduces a new villain called Lyric, the Last Ancient. Playing as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy, it will be your job to stop his evil plan of creating a destructive army of robots with the Chaos Emeralds by running through stages, exploring various areas and fighting bosses in many battles.

  • Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal

Platform: 3DS

Price: $39.99

In the 3DS side-scrolling Sonic Boom adventure, Amy has been kidnapped and Sonic and his gang must save her from the hands of the evil Lyric. It introduces a brand new character in Sticks the Jungle Badger, who can use a boomerang as his special ability. It features a stronger emphasis on exploration than previous Sonic titles.

  • Tales of Hearts R

Platform: PlayStation Vita (PlayStation TV Compatible)

Price: $39.99

Tales of Heart R is a remake of the 2008 DS JRPG Tales of Heart. It follows the story of Kor Meteor as he must recover the Kohaku Hearts’ spiria, the essence of heart and emotions, scattered all across the world. Additionally, Hearts R features extra story scenes.

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze

Platform: 3DS

Price: $29.99

Based on the Nickelodeon cartoon, WayForward is bringing a 2D Metroidvania-like Action-Platforming experience with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze. All four turtles can be swapped freely throughout the adventure and all have their own unique abilities.

  • Terraria

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Available on November 14) – (Digital Only on Both Platforms)

Price: $TBD

Arriving on current gen platforms, Terraria is three times as big as its previous gen counterpart, adding far more than 1000 new items to the game as well as additional NPC characters and bosses. You’ll be able to explore the many caves inside the randomly generated 2D world starting Tuesday on PS4 and Friday on Xbox One.

  • Tetris Ultimate

Platform: 3DS

Price: $19.99 on the eShop, $29.99 at Retail

With ten modes, including four new challenge modes made specifically for the 3DS version, you’ll be able to experience the fast-paced Puzzle game on Nintendo’s handheld platform. Don’t worry though, the game will also be releasing for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC later in the year.

  • Toybot Turbos

Platform: PC (Digital Only)

Price: $13.49

In this reboot brought to us by Codemasters, Toybot Turbos is a top-down, pick-up-and-play arcade Racer that features chaotic, yet competitive action. With six single-player modes to take on as well as up to four-player local or online Multiplayer game modes, you’ll have to combine speed and destructive weaponry to win the races.

  • Tropico 5

Platform: Xbox 360

Price: $39.99

Tropico 5 is finally making its way to the Xbox 360 console this week, meaning you’ll be able to navigate from the 19th century to the 21st century to build and manage islands with a controller. The game remains identical as its PC counterpart.

  • Valkyria Chronicles

Platform: PC (Digital Only)

Price: $19.99 ($17.99 If You Pre-Purchase It)

Remember the PlayStation 3 tactical RPG Valkyria Chronicles? Well, it is being ported to the PC along with all of its original DLC this week. The game depicts Europe divided in two super powers with the Federation and the Empire, and your job, as Welkin the main hero, is to overthrow the Empire’s plans to secure invaluable natural resources.


Wednesday October 12, 2014:

  • Amphora

Platform: PC (Digital Only)

Price: $TBD

Out of Steam Greenlight, Amphora is an indie-developed peculiar puzzle game that is very story-driven and physics-based. It has a very unique, striking art style that increases the sense of curiosity. Though, ultimately, you make your own story out of it, Amphora has you uncover the story of a girl in a world of intertwining tales.


Thursday November 13, 2014:

  • A World of Keflings

Platform: Wii U (Digital Only)

Build your own kingdom in A World of Keflings by using your Mii character to harvest resources and customize beautiful cities. You decide what you want to do next whether it is completing quests, composing music, or playing with your friends in online or local Multiplayer.

  • Mario Kart 8 – DLC Pack 1

Platform: Wii U (Digital Only)

Price: $7.99

The critically acclaimed Wii U racing game, Mario Kart 8, is finally getting some DLC in the form of two additional Grand Prix Cups (8 tracks in total), 3 new playable racers in Link, Cat Peach and Tanooki Mario, and two new vehicles with the Zelda-inspired Master Cycle and classic B-Dasher. The new tracks feature the Hyrule Circuit, Mute City from F-Zero, an Excitebike-dedicated stage, and much more.   • World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor

Prices: $49.99 for the Standard Version, $89.99 for the Collector’s Edition

WoW fans rejoice! The massive fifth expansion of the highly popular MMORPG hits the PC this week. Se after the events of Mists of PandariaWarlords of Draenor raises the existing level cap from 90 to 100, introduces upgradable garrisons as well as updated character models, and tells a brand new tale set in an alternate universe.


Friday November 14, 2014:

  • Pure Pool

Platform: Xbox One (Digital Only)

Price: $9.99

The most authentic video game pool experience hits the Xbox One this week, packed with HD visuals and realistic physics. You’ll be able to test your virtual pool skills online, or against the crushing AI in single-player.

  • This War is Mine

Platform: PC (Digital Only)

Price: $TBD

In this side-scrolling war Survival game, you play as a group of civilians trying to survive in horrible conditions because of the events happening in the world. This War is Mine is very unique in the sense that it has a Day and Night cycle that depicts how you play the game. Plus, it features a randomized world and characters every time you start a new game.
