[dropcap]R[/dropcap]ockstar has decided to keep its latest grand theft auto 5’s buzz alive by bringing out the latest 1.04 patch. When launched Grand Theft Auto V became the largest selling entertainment product in history grossing over $800 million on its first day of release, thereby beating the previous record of $500 million first-day sales held by Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Three days after its release, GTA 5 even broke the record of the fastest selling entertainment product by racking up $1 billion in sales worldwide. So it’s been quite imperative for Rockstar to keep its consumers happy with regards to fixing any technical issues that may crop up in its latest product.
This latest title update is aimed at GTA Online, the persistent online world for Grand Theft Auto 5 which went live on October 01. At the time of its launch Grand Theft Auto Online was plagued by a host of server problems and bugs that resulted in missing items, characters, long login waits and more. Rockstar fixed most of these issues with a title update patch a few days later, first for the PS3 and then for Xbox 360.
The latest patch comes in at 39 MB download size and is primarily aimed at addressing some issues like random disappearances of people’s vehicles or vehicle modifications due to a cloud save failure and such. A brief list of the fixes available along with this update is given below –
• Fixes an issue where the incorrect car is replaced when choosing to replace a car in a full garage
• Fixes an issue that caused personal vehicles to be duplicated
• Fixes an issue where players were not getting Crew invites in-game
• Fixes issues with joining Jobs from within a player-owned garage
• Fixes additional issues causing black screens, long load times, and players getting stuck in the sky cam
For a full list of fixes, viewers are requested to check out the release notes for the patch here http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/51603/new-gta-online-title-update.html. Another important point to note is that the update manages to put up a hard limit on the amount of money the player loses when they die in free mode to 500 GTA$. The other major change that came along with this update is an improved character creator to make the default characters better-looking by using the “random” option.
It was first announced last week that Rockstar was planning to provide a special stimulus package for everyone who plays Grand Theft Auto Online this month. Their subsequent news article read “In order to keep the current worldwide in-game economy balanced, we will be providing this GTA$ stimulus to players via two deposits of $250,000.” This option was supposed to be included with the 1.04 patch, but Rockstar seems to have pulled back at the last minute. A recent report said that the first of the deposits of the 500 million GTA$ that amounts to half that number would be made to all the player’s accounts by early this week. Whatever the issues that may be, we can trust Rockstar to be working on it even as we rap up another glorious day in the GTA online world.
