UPDATE: A newly released statement from 4A Games confirms the existence of Metro Redux: however, “what you saw leaked was taken from an old, internal planning presentation, containing some nuggets of truth but a lot of hypothetical ideas and place holder material.” Therefore, the finished product could have different exclusive features: but at the moment, 4A Games is not willing to say what these features are. But expect to hear another update soon.

The Metro series were popular first person shooters on the previous generation consoles: Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light have sold almost 1.5 million copies globally since their respective release. But since, the release of Last Light in May 2013, the developer 4A Games has not announced a new title. On top of this, the Metro series was the only titles created by 4A games, which is a company started by former GSC Game World employees: GSC is famous for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.

But now, it is reported that both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light might be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One; leaked photos first appeared on the Italian website Everyeye. The photo lists the name of the title Metro Redux and it says it will be released in July of this year. On top of that, it rightfully has 4A Games as the developer and Deep Silver as the Publisher, as well as, the mature PEGI 18 rating.

Everyeye also released a second photo, which contains all the content the player will get if he or she buys this new collection. The promotion promises first day DLC, both titles from the Metro Series, limited edition packaging, art cards, and the soundtrack.

The new game will contain both titles from the Metro series, as well as, PS4 and Xbox One exclusive content.

The original Metro 2033, which was based on a novel by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, came out in March 2010 to above average reviews: the PC and Xbox 360 versions averaged a score of 79 on Metacritic. Meanwhile, the sequel, Metro: Last Light, released in May 2013 to better reviews: the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 versions averaged a score of 81 on Metacritic.

It is important to point out that there has been no confirmation on this product; however, the first promotional picture seems to have all the correct information. And at the same time, the re-release of the previous generation’s titles seems like the latest trend to hit the Xbox One and PS4. But for now, we will have to wait and see if this collection is true.
