Respawn shipped a small Apex Legends hotfix on October 2, 2026. The patch, posted to the game’s Steam page under the title Latest Update 10/02/2026, resolves a bug that reset player settings on Steam and reduces two benefits on the Fast Draw Wild Card in Apex KO. It arrives one day after the October 1 update that nerfed the legend Axle and tuned Apex KO fighters.
Steam Settings Reset Fix
The patch addresses a Steam-only issue that reset player settings every time the game relaunched, forcing affected players to reconfigure them after each session. Respawn linked the bug to players using unique folder structures and Apex installation locations in APAC. The patch notes list the resolution under a Fixed heading. With the fix applied, settings now persist between sessions on the Steam version of Apex Legends.
Fast Draw Wild Card Tuning
Fast Draw is a Wild Card, one of the perks players pick inside Apex KO, the Street Fighter 6 crossover event mode that added Capcom fighters to Apex Legends. Respawn reduced two of its benefits. Reload Time Reduction, which speeds up weapon reloads, fell to 25 percent from 35 percent. Consumable Use Time Reduction, which speeds up how quickly a player uses consumable items, fell to 25 percent from 50 percent. The patch notes group both adjustments under the Fast Draw Wild Card heading, and lowering each number makes the perk weaker.
After the October 1 Update
The hotfix follows the October 1 Axle nerf, a larger balance patch that cut Axle’s sliding lateral control and reworked Apex KO fighters. That update lowered Fighter’s Defense from 55 percent damage reduction to 50 percent after Respawn found fighters difficult to take down in a one-versus-one gun fight. It also trimmed the ultimate charges for Ryu, Chun-Li, and Dhalsim from three to two and enabled passive Fight Gauge regen when a player is not in Fighter Form. Respawn said the ultimate-charge cut followed matches where fighters chained multiple ultimates in a row without giving opposing teams time to respond. The October 2 hotfix stays narrower, targeting only the Steam settings bug and the two Fast Draw reductions.
