We are going to compare the specification of the faded Apple iPhone 4S and the recently launched Motorola Moto X and share the hands on results and recommendation.
Apple iPhone 4S
Launched in October 2011, iPhone 4S was one of the most successful iPhone until the launch of its successor iPhone 5s.
Design and Display
The front and back assembly is made of slabs of toughened glass to give maximum protection and scratch resistance. The power button is on the top and volume rocker on the left edge of the phone. The front houses a 3.5-inch LED backlit IPS screen with 640*960 pixel resolution and 330 ppi density. Apple’s retina display has been the best in class for sharpness and color reproduction.
Specifications, Camera and Battery
Apple iPhone 4S is powered by a 1 GHz dual core processor with 512 MB RAM and 8/16/32/64 GB internal storage. Similar to its predecessor, it does not have a Micro SD card slot. It is fitted with 8MP rear camera which is still considered to be one of the best in class when compared with latest smartphones with same camera. The front camera is VGA for video calling. It comes preloaded with iOS 5 which is upgradable to iOS 7.1.2 and has a planned upgrade to iOS8. The interface is simple and neat with grid of app icons and has no option for customization.
Motorola Moto X
Moto X is an enhancement to Moto G with better screen quality, camera and performance.
Design and Display
Moto X features a durable plastic body made out of PET composite which makes it feel rugged and lightweight. It is available in 5 color variants – black, white, red, royal blue and turquoise. The front panel houses a 4.7 inch AMOLED screen of 720*1280 resolution and 312 ppi density. The images are crisp and sharp and the phone can be easily operated with one hand.
Specifications, Camera and Battery
It is powered by a 1.7 GHz dual core processor with 2GB RAM and 16/32/64 GB internal storage. It is preloaded with the latest android 4.4.4 KitKat and is upgradable to the upcoming android release. It features Google now which is a voice based information assistant and is easily accessible by swiping right on the screen. It features Quick capture where the camera app can be accessed by shaking the phone twice. It is fitted with a 10MP rear camera and 2MP front camera for video calling. The 10MP camera packs 1.34 micron sized pixels which is large as compared to 13MP camera in other smart phones. The 2200 mAh battery gives a decent talk time of 13h on 2G.
Overall
The Motorola Moto X is a recent release as compared to Apple iPhone 4S. After testing and using both the phones for some time, we recommend Moto X over iPhone 4S on the basis of performance and camera. But we know there some Apple fanboys out there who won’t have anything other an Apple product, but it’s really up to you which ecosystem you want to buy into.
