Aquos Crystal vs Moto G Compared

The Aquos Crystal provides a sharp, but unique device, in which has an edgeless and frameless display. Motorola’s second attempt to get in the market with the Moto G 2014 is sure to be a small hit, with users who liked the Moto G.

Dimensions, Screens, and Designs

Looking at the design, there is not many differences in the Moto G 2014, and the Moto G. Both devices offer a rubber case, however the latest device is thinner, only 11 inches thick. They also do not have back speakers, but the logo and the rear camera are still in the same position. The Moto G 2014 is 141.5 mm tall and weighs on 149g. It comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protected IPS LCD 5 inch display, which provides 720 x 1280 resolution, and 294 ppi pixel density.

Looking at the Sharp Aquos Crystal, it provides an angular body in which has holes that are small located from the camera in the rear to the edgeless display. It comes in both white and black, and the TFT 5 inch display has the same pixel density and resolution as the Moto G 2014. It has 78.26% screen-to-size ratio, while the Moto G 2014 has a 70% ratio. It measures 131 x 67 x 10 mm and only weighs 141 grams.

Software and Hardware

Both devices are similar internally, in which they both are powered by the Cortex-A7 quad-core processor that clocks at 1.2GHz. It is combined with the Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 chipset, which also provide great gaming experience with the Adreno 305 graphics. The Aquos Crystal provides a 1.5 RAM, while the Moto G 2014 only offers 1GB. Both devices offer 8GB of storage, where the Moto G 2014, has a 16 GB version. You are able to expand up to 128GB with the Aquos Crystal however.

Batteries and Cameras

Each device can capture good pictures with their rear 8MP camera, which provide the same capabilities such as face detection, geotagging, touch focus, panorama, HDR, autofocus, and LED flash. The Moto G 2014, however is capable of shooting 720p@30fps videos, while its competitor can shoot at 1080p@30fps. They each have a 2MP front-facing camera.

The Moto G 2014 provides a non-removable battery with 2070mAh capacity, where it can last up to 24 hours on 3G network. The Aquos Crystal provides up to 13 hours of talk time with their 2040mAh battery.

Additional Features

For the Moto G 2014, you are able to customize the rear panel, using Moto Maker. You can also support dual-SIM, which the Aquos Crystal cannot.

Each device provides connectivity options that support microUSB, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. However, the Aquos Crystal can support 4G LTE.

You are able to purchase the Aquos Crystal without a contract for $150 on Amazon. While the Moto G 2014 8GB variant is $170 on Amazon.
