Are the Halo games coming to Steam?

by GH Staff

After the recent release of Halo: Spartan Assault on Steam, PC gamers have been wondering if the other Halo titles would land on Steam. In a statement to GameSpot, Microsoft said it had no plans at this time to bring additional Halo games to Steam.

However, SteamFirst.com has stumbled upon official Steam groups for Halo, Halo 2, and Halo 3, fueling hopes that this means the games are finally coming to Steam. As the site reports, official Steam groups can only be created by Valve, so does this indicate an announcement is coming?

The release of the first three Halo games on Steam would certainly make a lot of PC gamers happy, especially those waiting for Halo 3, which has never been released for PC. Still, if the games really are coming to Steam, it’s a little odd that Microsoft would issue a statement denying it, when a simple “no comment” would’ve sufficed. If the games were to be released on Steam, they would, without a doubt, sell extremely well. The original Halo game came out nearly thirteen years ago, and releasing it on Steam would be a great way to re-introduce it to a new generation of gamers.

There’s a possibility that the upcoming Halo 5 game will also be launched on Steam, but nothing official has been confirmed yet. Consider all of this speculation, for now. If you want these games on Steam, make some noise, and tell Microsoft you want it.
